By the time you finish reading this, you will have a sure-fire way to improve your blog posts, all because you learned one very important secret.
When I first started blogging, I wrote about different topics that were of interest to me. Sure, I blogged about web design, trying to tailor my information for people who weren’t HTML coders, who didn’t have any interest in coding a website from the ground up. Over time I discovered something interesting. Those people would read my blog, but if they couldn’t directly apply something I said in the latest blog entry, then they would never come back.
Now, obviously some of them might come back at some point in the future. But it’s not that likely. I may have even given some great advice in the blog. But I wasn’t credible. I was just another blogger giving out advice that may or may not work. They didn’t have the time to try everything they read on the Internet.
What do the majority of popular blogs have in common? They give at least one piece of advice in every blog that can immediately and quickly be applied by most of their readers.
It would be great if I could give a piece of advice that would be universally applicable every time I blog. Instead, I try to give a piece of advice that most people can use who would be interested in that particular post based on the headline.
And it can’t be just any piece of advice. No, it has to be something that the reader can apply that very day. If the only advice in your blog post takes several days to put into effect, readers will be unlikely to try it. Simply put, you haven’t yet proven your credibility.
Advice that takes long to put into effect is fine, but make sure you have at least one tip that can be applied immediately. Once readers see how simple that was and the effect that it had, they’ll be much more likely to follow more in-depth advice.
On your next blog, give one single piece of advice that can be applied quickly and easily, preferably with quick results.
